On August 12th, IM Motors announced on their official social media that a new vehicle will be unveiled in August. The teaser image shows a car completely covered, with only the words “Confirmed, August Release” visible. This announcement has generated excitement and speculation among fans and industry insiders alike.
In response to the teaser, some fans speculated under the post by IM Motors’ Co-CEO Liu Tao that the new release might be a refreshed version of the LS6 or even an extended-range model. However, the company has not confirmed these rumors.
Back in June, sources revealed that IM Motors’ first extended-range model, likely an SUV, is expected to launch in the first quarter of next year, aiming to compete with the likes of the Li Auto L7. This extended-range project reportedly began in the second half of last year, with a focus on quickly capturing the market with an SUV.
During a media interview in May, Co-CEO Liu Tao mentioned that IM Motors plans to accelerate its vehicle iteration speed, with a 12-18 month cycle inspired by 3C products. He also confirmed that refreshed versions of the LS6 and LS7 are slated for release in the second half of this year. Liu acknowledged that the LS6’s market performance earlier this year was below expectations but hinted that the upcoming refresh will come with a highly competitive price.
